Qualifications

Overview

Position: Front End Mechanic (Millwright) – Kankakee, Illinois plant

Join Crown Beverage Division as we expand production and build a world‑class team. This journey‑level position is responsible for installation, maintenance, and repair of manufacturing equipment in a high‑volume beverage can facility.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshooting, preventive maintenance and repair of equipment.
• Designing, fabrication and welding of guarding equipment in steel, stainless and aluminum.
• Fabrication and installation of plumbing (plastic, threaded and welded).
• Installing complex machinery and equipment according to layout plans, blueprints, and other drawings, using hoists, lift trucks, hand tools, and power tools.
• Reading blueprints and schematic drawings to determine work procedures.

Qualifications

• Minimum of five (5) years of recent experience as a journey level millwright in a manufacturing operation.
• High School diploma or GED; trade school certificate or diploma a plus.
• Welding, fabrication, general machine assembly and machine alignment experience; TIG, MIG and/or STICK welding a plus.
• Experience in hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
• Forklift and scissors lift experience highly preferred.
• Excellent troubleshooting and problem‑solving skills.
• Willingness to work any shift (including 12‑hour), overtime, and heights; ability to climb stairs and perform physical tasks (lift up to 50 pounds).
• Ability to work in extreme temperatures.
