Job summary

Giant Eagle is seeking a Front End Lead to drive loyalty, improve guest throughput, and ensure accurate sales capture across all lanes. The role provides a consistent leadership presence on the Front End to maximize team member and guest satisfaction and supports the Front End Leader with various tasks.

Annual certification is required. The position requires 1–3 years experience, a high school diploma or equivalent, and the ability to lift up to 50 pounds.

Responsibilities

• Maintain consistent coverage of Self Checkout activities and ensure all sales are captured with strong guest service.
• Direct traffic flow for speedy checkout and assist cashiers as needed.
• Create and manage daily schedules and control sheets for front end coverage and efficiency.
• Take ownership of auxiliary front-end lines (gift cards, candy, etc) as assigned.
• Act as point person for Front End when Leader is not on duty.
• Complete daily compliance activities (AML, scale/PIN pad checks, WIC).
• Order front end supplies with cost awareness.
• Train and coach team on efficiencies, service culture, and loss prevention.

Job Responsibilities

• Maintain consistent coverage of all Self Checkout related activities ensuring all sales are accurately captured while providing unparalleled Guest service in a safe environment.


• Direct traffic flow for speedy checkout while ensuring Guest needs are being met. Open additional checkout options and request assistance as needed. Assist cashiers as needed (overrides, questions, etc).


• Create and manage daily schedules and control sheets for maximum efficiency and program compliance. Dictate the break/lunch plan while maintaining Front End coverage. Monitor cash control procedures as needed. .


• Assist Front End Leader as assigned in taking ownership of one or more auxiliary Front End lines of business (gift cards, candy, etc).


• Take ownership of the Front End when the Front-End Leader is not on duty. Act as the point person for the Front End.


• Ensure all compliance activities are completed daily and take ownership of specific compliance topics as assigned (AML, scale/PIN pad checks, WIC). .


• Order Front End supplies to fill needs while being conscious of cost.


• Train and coach Front End Team Members on efficiencies, best practices, Service Culture, and loss prevention tactics both in the moment and for long term success using tools such as Cashier Coach Pad.


• Support Front End Leader with special project or “champion” assignments.

The hiring range for this position is $14.00– $14.25 per hour/year. This range represents the anticipated base pay for this role. Actual compensation will be determined based on factors such as experience, skills, education, and location.
