Job summary

Ford Motor Company is seeking a Front-End Software Engineer for the Vehicle Dashboard product within Enterprise Technology. You will design, build, and deliver scalable, secure web applications using React.js, Next.js, and/or AEM, integrating with microservices and cloud backends.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Systems, or a related technical discipline.
• 4+ years of professional software engineering experience developing and delivering modern web applications.
• Strong hands-on expertise with React/Next.js or comparable front-end frameworks, with a proven ability to build scalable and maintainable solutions.

Responsibilities

• Design and deliver responsive front-end UI architecture for micro frontends, ensuring high performance, WCAG-compliant, scalability, and maintainability.
• Develop modules within the eCommerce products, ensuring the development of high-quality front-end components and interfaces.
• Model the use of modern software engineering practices (BDD, CI/CD, Shift left, 12-factor applications, etc.), API design, and architecture to support integration with existing Ford software products as well as external cloud-based services.
• Effectively utilize the AI coding assistants (Ford LLM, Github Copilot, etc.) in day-to-day workflow, including prompt design and guard-railing.
• Implement UI features based on Figma design specs
• Analyze and improve product performance using Lighthouse, Dynatrace and other monitoring tools
• Collaborate with Frontend and Backend Architects to rationalize design, translate into requirements for implementation.
• Work closely with product managers, designers, and backend engineers to ensure that the UI meets the needs of our users and is aligned with the overall product vision.
• Collaborate with other technical domain experts such as cloud, security, SRE, and DevOps.
• Test and debug UI issues across different browsers and devices and troubleshoot production issues in a timely manner
• Stay updated with the latest trends and technologies in UI development.
