Job summary

University of Arizona seeks an Applications Development Programmer Analyst I (Temporary) to join the MEZCPH project team in Tucson. The role focuses on building and maintaining the i-detect web/mobile platform, turning user stories into working screens and features for health surveillance.

You will work with a product owner, implement accessible UI, APIs, and data visualizations, and contribute to security, testing, and deployment practices.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field.
• 1 year of relevant work experience.
• Experience with web accessibility review and remediation.
• Experience building interactive maps (e.g., Mapbox or Leaflet).
• Experience building REST APIs with Python frameworks such as FastAPI.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain front-end and back-end components of the i-detect web and/or mobile platform.
• Build functionality to support the collection, management, processing, and visualization of self-reported participatory surveillance data.
• Develop and maintain databases, APIs, dashboards, user interfaces, and other system components required by the platform.
• Translate functional requirements, wireframes, and user feedback into working software features.
• Conduct software testing, troubleshoot technical issues, identify and resolve bugs, and perform ongoing quality assurance.
• Support integration of external data sources, APIs, mapping tools, analytics, and other technologies as required.
• Implement data security, privacy, access-control, and secure coding practices (HIPAA Safe Harbor).
• Optimize the platform for performance, reliability, usability, accessibility, and scalability.
• Document source code, system architecture, APIs, development processes, testing procedures, and technical decisions.
