Job summary

ShopRite of Freehold in Freehold, NJ is seeking a Customer Service/Courtesy Counter Clerk to deliver a friendly, accurate checkout experience and assist customers with inquiries while following store policies.

The role requires reading, writing, and speaking English, basic math, and the ability to stand for long periods, lift up to 25 pounds regularly and up to 50 pounds occasionally. Training and a supportive team help you grow within the Wakefern family.

Qualifications

• Ability to read, write, speak, analyze, interpret, and understand English.
• Ability to perform basic math.
• Ability to stand/walk for the duration of a shift.
• Ability to stand, bend, twist, reach, push, pull and regularly lift 25 lbs., and occasionally 50 lbs.
• Ability to interact with Customers in a friendly and helpful way.
• Ability to work cooperatively with others.
• Ability to work all assigned schedules and comply with time and attendance policies.

Responsibilities

• Maintain a clean, neat, organized and safe work environment.
• Greet Customers and provide prompt, courteous service and assistance.
• Enter Customer information for eligibility of Wakefern programs.
• Understand cash register operation and follow cash handling procedures.
• Be familiar with store products and locations.
• Assist with returns and refunds following company policy.
• Answer phones professionally and route calls as needed.
• Follow procedures for scanning items and handling merchandise.
