Job summary

Food Lion is hiring a Front End associate to provide fast, friendly service and support customer service standards. You will greet customers, manage checkout, bag groceries, and help maintain a neat front end area.

The role requires effective communication, dependable cash handling, and the ability to learn multiple tasks while following store procedures. Physical requirements include standing, lifting, and occasional heavy items, with a focus on safety and customer satisfaction.

Qualifications

• High school graduate or equivalent preferred.
• Effective communication and customer service skills.
• Ability and willingness to learn multiple tasks and technical requirements of the job.
• Ability to perform the technical requirements of cashier and service center.
• Must meet minimum age requirements to perform specific job functions.
• Must be able to meet the physical requirements of the position, with or without reasonable accommodations.

Responsibilities

• Smile and provide prompt, accurate and friendly service while engaging customers to create a positive shopping experience.
• Greet each customer and uses his or her name whenever possible.
• Unload customers' groceries from cart to belt and group items for easy bagging.
• Check the bottom of every cart and under all baby seats for items before completing an order.
• Follow correct bagging procedures by type and ensure proper cash handling per standard practice.
• Scan customers' order and handle the payment transaction per standard practice.
• Avoid personal conversations with other associates when customers are present.
• Follow procedures for refunds and error correction and maintain cash control.
• Identify customers needing assistance and offer to take orders to their car.
• Maintain alertness and request assistance to service customers per standards.
• Check prices quickly and accurately and be courteous to other associates.
• Wear the Food Lion uniform with apron, name badge, and clean appearance per dress code.
• Retrieve shopping carts from parking lot and cart corrals using tether strap per standard practice.
• Ensure front end area is neat and clean and report any issues to management.
• Observe and correct unsafe conditions and notify QA of cleaning or maintenance needs.
• Complete computer-based training and training aid courses.
• Perform all other duties as assigned.
