Job Description
Assist customers and process sales. Demonstrate the company’s core values of respect, honesty, integrity, diversity, inclusion, and safety.
Responsibilities
- Deliver and encourage other associates to deliver excellent customer service
- Perform cashier functions, including opening/closing register, ringing sales, completing tender transactions, bagging merchandise, making money drops, and knowing produce codes
- Complete file maintenance logs for price discrepancies
- Maintain cleanliness of checkstand area to housekeeping standards
- Answer telephones
- Comply with all corporate policies
- Promote and follow company initiatives
- Verify all Electronic Article Surveillance tags are deactivated or removed at point of sale
- Respond to Electronic Article Surveillance pedestal activations and verify tag removal as necessary
Store Accounting
- Maintain all store accounting functions
- Prepare bank deposits of excess funds (cash and checks)
Customer Service Desk
- Open and close desk
- Process refunds, exchanges, money orders, transfers, bill pay, gift cards, purchase orders, and equipment rentals
- Provide lottery services (except Alaska) and fish and game licenses
- Send/receive faxes
- Administer lost and found
- Run vendor reports
- Ability to work cooperatively in a high-paced, sometimes stressful environment
- Manage conflict in a reasonable, nonconfrontational, and cooperative manner
- Act with honesty and integrity regarding customer and business information
- Follow directions and seek assistance to resolve issues
- Support and assist minors, individuals with special needs, and older adults
- Perform essential functions with or without reasonable accommodation
Qualifications
Minimum
- High school diploma or GED, or relevant education and experience
- Six months cashier experience at Customer Service Desk
- Minimum 18 years of age (19 in Idaho/Alaska if selling tobacco)
- Ability to pass drug test
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- Availability to work weekends, any shift, and overtime as needed
- Organizational and prioritization skills
- Accuracy and attention to detail
Desired
- Knowledge of company policies, procedures, and structure
- Related retail experience
