Position Summary
Responsible for assisting the Front-End Manager (FEM) in coordination of the regular functions of the Front End (FE) department at assigned store location. This position is a key member of a department where cooperation is required to maintain staff morale, efficiency and excellent service to customers. The Front-End Assistant Manager (FEAM) assists the FEM in supervision and performance management of assigned FE Staff. Provides constructive feedback to FEM and Store Manager (SM) to help facilitate excellent communication between the FE department, customers and other departments. Ensures adequate overall FE department scheduling and staffing in order to provide optimal service to our customers.
Requirements
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:
EDUCATION:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
- 1-2 years supervisory experience preferred
- Proficient in the use of Microsoft Word, Excel, Access
- Excellent organizational skills required
- Ability to provide excellent customer service and interact with a wide variety of customers
- Ability to model excellent customer service for FE staff
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Excellent interpersonal skills
- Must be of legal age to sell alcohol (18 years)
- Ability to lift 50lbs.
- Experience using the front and back end of a Point of Sale (POS) preferred
Summary
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Front End:
- Maintain ongoing communication of procedural changes to Person in Charge (PIC) and Staff.
- Model and teach First Alternative customer service standards to all FE staff, while actively engaging FE staff to provide optimal customer service at all times.
- Assist the FEM with training of department staff and staff cashiers from other departments.
- Assist in the development and refinement of department policies and procedures.
- Assist in the implementation of new programs and policies to enhance owner services, in coordination with the Marketing and Informational Technology (IT) department.
- Ensure the promotion of Owner shares, the Co-op Thymes within the FE department.
- Assist with Outreach programs such as Food for All (FFA) and Double Up Food Bucks (DUFB).
- Assist with Owner-related tasks, such as selling Owner shares, data entry, Owner information updates.
- Communicate suggested changes to store systems as they relate to the FE to the appropriate manager.
- Able to support FE coverage and provides additional floor support when critical shifts are not staffed.
- Assist in maintaining department systems that are accurate, efficient and in the best interest of the store and the Staff.
- In coordination with FEM to write and maintain up-to-date policies, procedures, and forms for department Staff and Assistant Manager responsibilities.
- Ensure FE compliance with Oregon Department of Agriculture (ODA), Occupational Health and Safety Administration (OHA), Oregon Liquor and Cannabis Commission (OLCC), Women Infants and Children (WIC), labor laws and other legal guidelines.
- Maintains FE equipment and/or communicates need for maintenance; stays informed of equipment and software, and is able to assist in troubleshooting as needed.
- Coordinate ordering of office supplies, store supplies and inventory for specific store locations as needed.
- Assist Store Manager and FEM in tasks as requested.
Financial (as per assigned store location):
- In conjunction with the FEM actively monitor FE labor performance as it relates to budget and suggest changes as needed.
- Ensure FE staff understands the importance of proper department rings at the registers.
- Monitor department costs and sales in accordance with the annual budget and work with FEM and Store Manager; take action when needed to keep the department within budget.
- Ensures accurate paperwork is completed for customer service exchanges; follows up with problematic transactions and reconciles cash handling as feasible.
