Essential Skills & Abilities
- Welcomes patients/care givers, determines the purpose of visit and directs them to appropriate person or department.
- Promptly and professionally answers telephone calls. Routes calls appropriately.
- Retrieve messages from voice mail and greet patients.
- Facilitates patient flow and communicates delays with patients and clinical staff.
- Follows all policies on safety and security; maintains restricted areas safe by safeguarding keyless entry codes, and computer system passwords in strict confidentiality.
- Create a patient-friendly environment.
- Schedule/ cancel patient appointments.
- Verify demographics and insurance information.
- Register and check out all patients.
- Collect co-payment; print receipt as needed.
- Reconcile money collected and charges at the end of each shift.
- Appropriately and courteously screens solicitors for relevance to organization needs.
- Confirm appointment schedule.
- Print daily appointment lists.
- Maintain supplies of all forms and office materials; monitors inventory needs and places orders.
- Manage and maintain electronic check-in.
- Maintain waiting room for a generally tidy appearance.
- Responsible for keeping the reception area and office files clean and organized.
- Regular and prompt attendance is expected and required.
- All other duties as required or assigned.
Position Requirements
- Previous customer service experience preferred.
- High School degree or equivalent.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Strong computer skills and understanding of various practice management software.
- Ability to work as a team in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to multitask and prioritize work responsibilities.
- Ability to float between other offices throughout Fairfield County.
