Job summary

Guthrie East Corning is seeking a Patient Service Specialist to provide daily front office support, welcome patients, register patients, and maintain accurate information in the medical record. This role supports clinical teams in a fast-paced practice and ensures exceptional customer service.

Qualifications

• High School diploma/GED required.
• Graduation from a Medical Office Assistant school preferred.
• Minimum 1 year customer service experience preferred.
• Medical office experience and knowledge of medical terminology preferred.
• Must be comfortable with computers and learning new applications.

Responsibilities

• Greet every patient in a courteous, professional, and timely manner.
• Answer telephones in a friendly and efficient manner.
• Schedule and maintain patient appointments electronically and verify information.
• Register patients and verify demographic and insurance information.
• Verify insurance eligibility and complete required forms and referrals.
• Inform, quote, and collect copayments and deductibles per policy.
• Handle daily cash-out and balancing per policy.
• Liaise between patients, physicians, and staff, keeping everyone informed.
• Maintain confidentiality per HIPAA and participate in quality initiatives.
