Opportunity: Front Desk Agent

The Courtyard Marriott in Springfield is currently seeking a detailed, highly motivated individual with open availability to support the needs of the front desk department.

Essential Job Functions

  • Assist guests efficiently, courteously, and professionally in all Front Desk standards of service and hospitality.
  • Promptly and effectively deal with guest complaints and requests.
  • Check guests in and out efficiently and in a friendly manner.
  • Post guest charges, compute guest bills, and collect payments.
  • Handle guest mail/packages and ensure communication of received items.
  • Be knowledgeable of Marriott Rewards program and promotions.
  • Develop thorough knowledge of hotel staff, room locations, room rates, and the surrounding area.
  • Block rooms and handle special requests.
  • Monitor room availability.
  • Handle safe deposits by guests per established procedures.
  • Keep lobby and desk area clean and presentable.
  • Have thorough knowledge of emergency and security procedures.
  • Offer and properly handle requests for wake-up calls.
  • Know how to clean guest rooms to standards.
  • Open and close shifts and make cash drops.
  • Ensure all credit cards and cash are balanced throughout each shift.
  • Communicate with incoming staff and management by logging pertinent information.
  • Keep maintenance informed of all maintenance needs.
  • Wear proper uniform at all times.
  • Be able to move luggage or packages weighing up to 40 pounds.
  • Have reliable transportation and be able to work weekends and holidays.
  • Perform other duties as requested by management.

Position Requirements

  • Previous hotel experience is preferred.
  • Previous customer service experience is required.
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office.

Work Environment and Context

  • Work schedule varies and includes working on holidays and weekends.
  • Required to stand for extended periods, lift up to 10 pounds, and type.
