Job Overview

Responds in a professional and courteous manner to arriving, departing, and in-house guests by providing accurate and timely information and services. Responds to telephone and in-person inquiries regarding reservations, hotel information, and guest concerns.

Responsibilities

  • Greets and completes established check-in procedures for arriving guests daily, using manual and computerized methods, ensuring guest satisfaction and room requests are met.
  • Facilitates guest departure (check-out) by following established procedures to close guest accounts and prepare rooms for the next guest.
  • Calculates and posts monies, receipts, guest accounts, and credit transactions accurately, maintaining proper cash handling procedures and hotel records.
  • Answers inquiries and accepts reservations in person and by phone, communicating hotel rates and information effectively, and using suggestive selling techniques to increase occupancy and revenue.
  • Maintains good customer relations by staying informed about in-house and area functions to provide timely and knowledgeable responses, both in person and on the phone.
  • Operates PBX equipment for incoming and outgoing calls, scheduling wake-up calls, and paging guests to ensure efficient service.
  • Controls cash transactions at the front desk, responsible for personal bank according to hotel policies.
  • Maintains a friendly, cheerful, and courteous demeanor at all times.

Qualifications

  • Education/Formal Training: High School diploma or equivalent
  • Experience: Luxury hospitality experience preferred
  • Knowledge/Skills: High school level mathematical aptitude, knowledge of cash handling and computerized cash register systems, experience dealing with the public, excellent customer service skills, fluency in English, tact and understanding in stressful situations, highly organized with attention to detail.

Physical Demands

  • Must be able to read written communications and operate computer, calculator, and phone keyboards.
  • Ability to understand and follow instructions, multitask, and communicate effectively.
  • 90% of shift standing; frequent bending, kneeling, reaching, and mobility required to assist guests and perform tasks.
  • Occasional lifting up to 25 lbs.
