Job summary

Mather is seeking an experienced Cook to join our culinary team at Splendido in Tucson, AZ. You will prepare all types of food from scratch for multiple restaurants within the luxury senior living residence, ensuring high quality and adherence to recipes and HACCP standards.

Qualifications

• Basic knowledge and understanding of cooking techniques.
• Ability to communicate with supervisors, residents, and guests and to follow standardized recipes.
• Able to operate kitchen equipment and tools found within the hospitality/health care industry.
• Effective written communication skills, and the ability to read and interpret instructions.
• Reliable, predictable, and punctual attendance, to provide timely service to internal and external customers.
• Must be sensitive to the needs of older adults and enjoy working with a senior population.
• Ability to work productively in a team environment.

Responsibilities

• Prepares quality food at designated times according to recipes and menus, following HACCP sanitation practices.
• Prepares portions and plate presentations with garnishment, monitors temperatures for elevated presentation.
• Checks menu availability and reports shortages to the Executive Chef.
• Maintains cleanliness and organization of equipment, storage areas, and reports malfunctions or hazards.
• Minimizes waste, labels and stores items properly, and adheres to rotation practices.
• Assists with deliveries, dry storage, walk-ins, and freezer organization.
• Supports dishwashing, receiving, and transportation of food and equipment as needed.
• May assist Pastry Chef with basic tasks.
• Participates in Quality Assurance and process improvements.
