Job summary

Epicure Café in Houston is seeking a passionate Baker to join our family café in River Oaks. You will prepare fresh, made-from-scratch baked goods using family recipes and maintain quality across daily production.

Responsibilities include measuring, mixing, baking, decorating, and presenting items, while following recipes to ensure consistency and minimizing waste. Early mornings and weekends may be required in this role.

Qualifications

• Previous baking, pastry, café, restaurant, or culinary experience preferred.
• Comfortable following detailed recipes and established preparation methods.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to consistency.
• Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced kitchen environment.
• Availability for early mornings, weekends, and holidays based on business needs.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and bake pastries, breads, desserts, and other café favorites according to established family recipes and standards.
• Follow recipes carefully to ensure consistent flavor, texture, appearance, and quality.
• Measure, mix, portion, shape, bake, decorate, and finish products as needed.
• Prepare daily production based on café needs while maintaining freshness and minimizing waste.
• Maintain proper food handling, storage, labeling, rotation, and sanitation practices.
• Keep bakery equipment, workstations, and preparation areas clean and organized.
• Monitor ingredient levels and communicate product or supply needs to leadership.
• Handle recipes and preparation methods with care, respecting the traditions and standards behind each item.
• Work collaboratively with the culinary and café teams to ensure products are ready for daily service.
• Take pride in presentation and ensure every item served reflects the quality of our café.
