Job summary

The Nativity School in Rancho Santa Fe, CA is hiring a full-time Assistant Teacher to support the Lead Teacher with curriculum, classroom activities, and supervision.

You will help with lunchtime and rest time, prepare materials, and ensure a safe, respectful learning environment for every child.

Candidates should be Catholic, 18+, have a HS diploma or GED, and pass a background check; prior elementary teaching experience and strong references are valued.

Qualifications

• Age 18 or older.
• Proof of high school diploma or GED.
• Clear criminal background check (Livescan for licensing/LIC required).
• Experience teaching in an elementary school classroom.
• Positive professional references and recommendations.
• Passionate about working with young children and growth as an educator.
• Team player with a positive attitude and enthusiasm.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Lead Teacher with the school curriculum.
• Oversee outdoor activities and ensure a safe environment.
• Assist with rest time setup, supervision and breakdown.
• Prepare materials and supplies for daily classroom activities and equipment setup.
• Cover for teacher lunches and breaks as needed.
• Provide children with support and care during lunch and rest times.
• Assist with aftercare coverage if needed.
• Respect and honor individual children's needs, interests, talents, and learning pace.
• Understand children in relation to their cultural and socioeconomic background.
• Sit on the floor, kneel or crouch to assist children.
• Be enthusiastic, patient and nurturing.
• Treat children with dignity and respect.
• Share housekeeping responsibilities after children depart or are supervised by others.
• Participate in training programs, conferences, and other professional development.
• Other duties as assigned.
