Amentum Space Exploration Division is offering an opportunity to contribute to mission-critical welding equipment maintenance at NASA facilities. You will gain hands-on experience with hydraulically-powered friction stir welding machines and lead maintenance projects in a collaborative team environment.

The role emphasizes methodical planning, documentation, and ongoing education, with travel within the domestic USA and a strong focus on safety and quality in a dynamic, mission-driven setting.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED with 15+ years experience or an Associate’s Degree with 10+ years experience.
• US Citizenship and STAR ID are required.
• Experience with hydraulics and electromechanical systems.
• Prior experience with friction stir welding equipment is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Maintain, repair, and control the configuration of hydraulically-powered friction stir welding and friction pull plug welding machines.
• Determine root causes of failures, perform required repairs, and identify interim solutions when permanent repairs aren’t available.
• Document problems, investigative techniques, corrective actions, and repair results for communication to team and customer personnel.
• Develop spare parts lists and arrange procurement of replacements as needed.
• Train other personnel to operate these machines and plan/execute related projects.
