Job summary

ReNEW Schools is seeking a high school sport coach to organize and supervise a comprehensive athletic program. You will coach, mentor student athletes, and collaborate with the athletic director and principals to uphold the program’s standards.

You will lead staff development, supervise coaches, and ensure safety, discipline and eligibility procedures. The role emphasizes sportsmanship, character development, and community representation within the school system.

Qualifications

• Ability to organize and supervise a total sports program.
• Previous successful coaching experience in assigned sport.
• Substantial knowledge of the technical aspects of the sport and willingness to examine new theories and procedures.

Responsibilities

• Establish the fundamental philosophy, skills and techniques to be taught by staff. Design conferences, clinics and staff meetings to insure staff awareness of overall program.
• Train and inform staff, encourage professional growth by attending clinics.
• Delegate duties, supervise implementation and evaluate all assistants.
• Maintain discipline, adjust grievances and increase morale and cooperation.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the athletic director/principal.
• Assist in scheduling, transportation and requirements for tournaments and events.
• Prepare for scheduled sport events and adhere to facility times; coordinate with maintenance and school employees.
• Provide documentation for state and system requirements (exams, consent, eligibility).
• Safeguard equipment and facilities; ensure proper usage and storage.
• Advise the athletic director and recommend policy or procedural changes.
• Mentor athletes to develop character traits and monitor grades and conduct.
• Direct student managers, assistants and statisticians; manage discipline and eligibility concerns.
• Assist athletes in college or further education selection.
