SUMMARY OF POSITION:

The Freshman Boys Basketball Coach is responsible for providing student-athletes with a positive, meaningful experience through participation in the basketball program. This position focuses on the development of athletic skills, sportsmanship, teamwork, and personal growth, while supporting the overall goals and philosophy of the Carrollton Public Schools athletic program.

REPORTS TO:Terry Jarvis - Athletic Director of Carrollton Public School

COMPENSATION:

The Varsity Baseball Coach will be paid in accordance with the CEA contract \"Appendix B\".

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

• Teach and develop the fundamental skills of basketball


• Help athletes develop positive values, morals, and sportsmanship.


• Evaluate players abilities and identify areas for improvement.


• Provide constructive instruction to correct mistakes and promote athletic growth.


• Collaborate with the Varsity Head Coach to ensure consistency and program development across all levels.


• Assist the Varsity Coach during practices and games as needed.


• Provide coverage and support for the boys bowling team when at different sites.


• Foster team spirit, leadership, and self-confidence among student-athletes.


• Communicate effectively and professionally with players, parents, and the Athletic Director.


• Uphold all district, league, and MHSAA rules, regulations, and expectations.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• Excellent leadership qualities with the ability to motivate and inspire student-athletes.


• Passion for developing youth both athletically and holistically.


• CPR, First Aid, and other required coaching certifications (or willingness to obtain)


• Prior baseball coaching experience preferred (varsity-level experience highly desirable).


• Strong oral and written communication skills.


• Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.


• Must be able to lift a minimum of 75 pounds.


• Must have a high school diploma or GED


• Must receive a satisfactory response to 4205-F Authorization for Release of Information and Employee History Check Under 1996 PA 189 of 1996; MCL 380.1230b
