Job summary

Mount Vernon High School seeks applicants for the High School Assistant Baseball Coach position for Spring 2026. The coach will teach, mentor, and guide student-athletes to perform at a high level while supporting the district's academic goals.

Responsibilities include maintaining safety, following district policies, coordinating fundraising, communicating with students and parents, and collaborating with staff and the Head Coach to support the baseball program.

Job description

Mount Vernon High School is seeking applicants for the position of High School Assistant Baseball Coach for the Spring 2026 season. This position teaches and coaches our students to the highest level that can be attained, while supporting the academic beliefs and practices of the district.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Act professionally and within district guidelines, carrying out assignments promptly, responding positively to direction, and adhering to Board of Education policies and procedures.
• Promote positive relationships and communication with students, parents, staff, administrators, and the community, presenting a positive image of the school and district.
• Support student safety and well-being by taking appropriate precautions and maintaining knowledge of CPR, First Aid, and procedures related to bloodborne pathogens and infectious materials.
• Collaborate effectively with school personnel, including administrators, faculty, staff, and the Head Coach, to support programs and assigned responsibilities.
• Manage and oversee fundraising and budget responsibilities, including supervising fundraising activities and maintaining accurate financial records.
• Maintain professionalism and confidentiality, pursue ongoing professional growth, and perform additional duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Background Checks-Clearance on all background checks required by law that is satisfactory to the Administration.

• Assistant Coach:
• Preferred – Bachelors Degree
• Minimum – 60 College Hours or Sub Certification
• Certificates, Licenses, Registrations-Shall hold certification as required by Missouri law and/or MSHSAA guidelines:
• Assistant Coach:
• Preferred - Valid Missouri Teaching Certificate
• Minimum – Valid Missouri Substitute Certificate
• Appropriate Drivers’ License required in the event position requires transport of students.
