Job summary

Performance Food Group in Augusta, ME seeks a Fresh Produce Inspector to ensure the quality of inbound and in-house fresh produce. You will perform visual inspections on the Cooler Dock and in-house pick slots, and work with the Produce CM, Inventory Control, and OPS to resolve issues.

The role requires a High School diploma or equivalent and 3–12 months of related experience; you may train on pallet jack operation, lift up to 60 lbs, and work in cool temperatures.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma/GED or equivalent experience.
• 3-12 months' procurement, warehouse and/or administrative experience in related area.
• Willing to train on pallet jack operation and complete required certification.
• Must be able to lift up to 60lbs where applicable.
• Comfortable working in temperatures between 36-55 degrees F for majority of the shift.
• Must be able to complete training Monday-Friday, then move to Sunday-Wednesday.

Responsibilities

• Perform duties efficiently to reduce spoilage; work with cooler Receiving Department on perishable items.
• Communicate with customers, company personnel and vendors in a friendly, timely and accurate manner.
• Determine quality of products returned by customers; work with Returns Clerk on returned produce quality.
• Daily inspection of produce returns and disposition decisions for inventory.
• Break/repack full cases to small cases to reduce spoilage and lost inventory.
• Check dating on designated products daily; remove short-dated or bad product.
• Keep inventory counts current.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.
