Job description

Carney, Sandoe & Associates, an education recruitment firm, is currently seeking French and Spanish Teachers for the 2026-2027 school year at a boarding school in Middletown, Delaware. Boarding school opportunities often include room and board.

Base pay range

$50,000.00/yr - $85,000.00/yr

French and Spanish Teacher Responsibilities:

• Teach four sections of either French or Spanish for upper school students.
• Develop engaging lesson plans and curricula tailored to the needs and skill levels of individual students.
• Create opportunities for students to practice conversational French and Spanish and improve pronunciation and comprehension.
• Teaching students about French and Spanish culture, which may include festivals, traditional food, and dress, and social conventions.
• Serve as a coach for at least two athletic seasons or as a supervisor for two extracurricular programs.
• Organizing fun events where students can showcase their French and Spanish language skills.
• Communicate with parents regarding student progress and behavior.
• Participate in regular professional development activities to stay current with best practices and innovation in language education.
• Assist in residential life duties including community-building events, enforcing housing policies, addressing student concerns, and fostering a safe and inclusive living environment.

French and Spanish Teacher Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in French, Spanish, Linguistics, Education, or related required. Master’s degree preferred.
• Proven written and verbal proficiency in both French and Spanish.
• Ability to teach both French and Spanish courses.
• 2-3 years of previous teaching experience preferred.
• No teaching license or credential is required.
• Strong interpersonal as well as written and verbal communication skills.
• Organized, dependable, and eager to contribute to the school community.
• Willingness to assist with extracurricular and school community activities.

Additional Desired Qualities:

• Knowledge of ACTFL standards preferred.
