Job summary

CSX is seeking a Freight Conductor to safely coordinate train crews, makeup/breakdown trains, and supervise rail yard operations. The role emphasizes strict adherence to FRA rules, safety protocols, and effective communication with yardmasters and engineers.

New hires undergo four weeks of paid training at the Atlanta Training Center, with hotel accommodations and a daily meal allowance. Relocation is not offered; mileage is reimbursed at IRS rates for travel between hiring location, training

Qualifications

• Must be 18 years or older and able to read and follow operating instructions
• Proficient verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to read bulletins, work orders, and switch lists

Responsibilities

• Ensure compliance with all railroad and safety rules and FRA regulations
• Inspect equipment on cars prior to departures
• Receive and transmit information by radio and telephone
• Assist with coupling/uncoupling of cars and operate switches
• Work with customers to ensure accurate movement and placement of cars
