Job summary

Norfolk Southern is looking for conductors responsible for the safe and efficient movement of freight trains in Elmira, NY. No prior railroad experience is necessary as comprehensive training will be provided. You will be required to manage documentation, ensure compliance with safety protocols, and spend 2-3 days away from home weekly.

Qualifications

• Must be 18 years or older.
• Must pass pre-employment FRA drug and alcohol screening.
• Experience working outdoors in various weather conditions.

Responsibilities

• Build and inspect trains, railcars, and equipment for safe operation.
• Communicate effectively with crews, dispatchers, and yard controllers.
• Operate remote control locomotives and perform various tasks.

Skills

Ability to report to work within 90 minutes

Clean driving record

Ability to lift and carry up to 85 lbs

Communication skills with crews and dispatchers

Education

Valid driver's license

Legally authorized to work in the U.S.
