The Freight Railroad Bridge Intern will assist design and engineering tasks for railroad projects under supervision, applying standard techniques to bridge-related work and supporting facilities.

Ideal candidates are enrolled in an engineering program with strong problem-solving and communication skills.

Qualifikationen

  • Currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate Engineering program.
  • Possess strong problem-solving and communication skills.
  • Basic Microsoft Office skills.

  • Gain real-world experience by applying standard engineering techniques for bridge design and supporting facilities for freight railroad clients.
  • Work under supervision to check drawings and calculations, develop material lists, quantify materials, review construction submittals, and use specialized software
  • Connect with recent graduates and company leaders through mentoring programs
  • Position may require travel and/or field work within the U.S.
  • Perform other duties as needed
  • Have a valid license to operate motor vehicles where applicable

In the role of a Freight Railroad Bridge Intern, we'll count on you to:
  • Gain real-world experience on exciting projects by applying standard engineering techniques and procedures related to the design of bridge, and supporting facilities for our various freight railroad clients
  • Work under the guidance and direct supervision of a senior-level Engineer to assist in checking drawings and calculations, developing material lists and calculating quantities, reviewing construction submittals, and use of specialized software
  • Connect with recent college graduates and our company leaders through mentoring and young professionals’ programs
  • Position may require travel and/or field work within the U.S.
  • Perform other duties as needed
  • This position is contingent upon the successful completion of background check and drug screening. Following hire, the role is subject to random and reasonable-cause drug and alcohol testing
  • Have a valid license to operate motor vehicles in accordance with applicable state law
Preferred Qualifications
  • Prefer 2+ years completed toward degree with 3.0+ GPA
  • Demonstrated knowledge of software packages related to field of study/industry, such as MicroStation and/or AutoCAD
  • Preference given to local candidates
Required Qualifications
  • Currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate Engineering program
  • Possess strong problem-solving and communication skills
  • Basic Microsoft Office skills
  • An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture is a must
