Job summary

HDR, Inc. in the United States–Missouri–St Louis area is seeking a Bridge Intern to support design and analysis on highway and rail projects under the guidance of senior engineers.

You will apply standard engineering techniques to a variety of structures and gain real-world experience on active HDR projects. The role emphasizes mentorship, collaboration with multi-disciplinary teams, and exposure to NBIS inspections and field services.

• Support field services for site visits and NBIS inspections.
• Perform other duties as needed.

Bridge Intern

In the role of Bridge Intern, we'll count on you to:

• Gain real-world experience on exciting projects by applying standard engineering techniques and procedures on a variety of projects typically including bridge steel plate girders, prestress concrete, segmental and cable, box culvert, and miscellaneous structure design for highway and railway projects.
• Work under the guidance and direct supervision of a more senior-level Engineer to assist with the development of bridge and structure designs.
• Connect with recent college graduates and our company leaders through mentoring and young professionals' programs
• May also include field services for site visits and NBIS level inspection activities
• Perform other duties as needed

Preferred Qualifications

• Prefer 2 years completed toward degree with 3.0+ GPA
• Demonstrated knowledge of software packages related to field of study/industry
• Self-starter with excellent writing, comprehension, problem-solving and communication skills
• Preference given to local candidates
