Job summary

XPO is hiring a Freight Operations Supervisor in Phoenix to lead and optimize freight operations. You will supervise hourly staff, manage workloads, enforce safety and regulatory policies, and drive productivity across the shift with a focus on cost efficiency and service quality.

Key responsibilities include planning schedules, coaching staff, ensuring timely loading/delivery, and participating in safety initiatives while upholding XPO’s values and workplace standards.

Qualifications

• 2+ years experience in warehouse, distribution, or logistics operations.
• Knowledge of LTL, hazmat regulations and DOT rules.
• Able to work days, evenings, nights and weekends.

Responsibilities

• Lead and supervise all aspects of freight operations.
• Develop and implement work procedures to meet department demands.
• Evaluate, manage, assign and supervise workloads and tasks.
• Supervise hourly staff and be the primary contact for workplace concerns.
• Ensure production goals by managing tonnage, payroll and admin functions.
• Plan hourly schedules to meet daily goals and reduce costs.
• Enforce company, FMCSR, OSHA, CCMTA, NSC and DOT policies and laws.
• Ensure timely, damage-free customer freight processing, loading and delivery.
• Coach employees on safety and quality requirements; conduct new hire evaluations.
• Direct a team to meet or exceed productivity goals.
• Make hiring, suspension and termination recommendations.
• Develop action plans to improve load average and model compliance.
• Participate in safety and engagement committees.
• Train employees on safety rules and processes.
• Maintain shift organization for safety and productivity.
• Conduct daily staff meetings and communicate policy changes.
• Inspect tools/equipment for safe operation and correct issues.
• Provide improvement ideas for operations within shift and service center.
• Champion XPO values and high standards across the team.
• Minimize shipment rehandle by prioritizing direct loading while upholding quality.
