Job summary

XPO Logistics, Inc. is seeking a Freight Operations Supervisor in Saint Charles, MO to lead and supervise all aspects of freight operations, develop procedures, and optimize workloads to meet daily goals. You’ll manage hourly staff, enforce safety, and coordinate with cross-functional teams to ensure timely, damage-free deliveries.

You will mentor employees, plan schedules, control costs, and participate in safety and engagement initiatives while upholding XPO values and industry regulations.

Qualifications

• 2 years of related work experience in warehouse, distribution, supply chain or transportation
• Knowledge of LTL industry, hazardous materials regulations and DOT rules/regulations
• Willingness to work days, evenings, nights and weekends

Responsibilities

• Lead and supervise all aspects of freight operations
• Develop and implement strategic work procedures to meet evolving department demands
• Evaluate, manage, assign and supervise workloads and tasks
• Supervise hourly staff across operations and act as primary contact for workplace concerns
• Ensure production goals are met by managing tonnage, payroll and other admin functions
• Plan hourly employee schedules to meet daily operations goals and lower costs
• Enforce company policies, FMCSR, OSHA, CCMTA, NSC and DOT rules and laws
• Implement workplace policies to optimize network performance
• Ensure customer freight is processed, handled, loaded and delivered timely and damage-free
• Coach and develop employees on proper techniques and quality requirements
• Direct a team to meet or exceed productivity goals
• Make recommendations regarding hiring, suspension and termination
• Develop and present action plans to improve load average and model compliance
• Participate in safety and engagement committees
• Train employees on safety rules and processes
• Monitor and maintain organization within shift for safety and productivity
• Conduct daily staff meetings and communicate policy updates
• Inspect tools and equipment for safe operation and direct corrections
• Provide guidance for operational improvements within the shift
• Champion XPO values and uphold high standards
• Minimize shipment rehandle by prioritizing direct loading while maintaining quality
