Job summary

FedEx Freight is seeking a warehouse worker to transport freight in dock areas and assist with loading/unloading for trailers. The role requires operating forklift equipment and handling documentation accuracy in a fast-paced environment.

The position includes shifts from early morning to evening and requires physical stamina for lifting dock plates and freight. Prior warehousing experience is preferred and teamwork is essential.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is preferred.
• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• Experience in warehousing, freight handling or forklift operations is preferred.
• Hostler/yard mule duties experience is preferred.
• Ability to count and perform basic math, with or without a calculator.
• Basic written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to lift/carry hand freight and heavy dock plates repeatedly, and to open trailer doors with substantial lift.
• Ability to bend, twist, squat, push/pull freight during shift.
• Ability to work independently or as part of a team.
• Previous dock/warehouse experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Transport freight across dock area to/from trailers for loading to trailers.
• Operate forklift, pallet jack and hand truck as required.
• Verify documentation matches freight description (type, weight, hazardous materials).
• Secure freight inside trailers using pallets, straps, rope or similar.
• Recoup/repair damaged freight when necessary.
• Verify and complete required documentation and reports.
• Assist customers with freight and freight documentation as needed.
• Perform hostling duties if required.
• Comply with laws, regulations and company policies.
• Perform other duties as required.
