Job description

Altius Talent are partnered with a well established international freight forwarder seeking an experienced Air & Ocean Specialist to join their growing San Diego operation.

You’ll be joining a team that values accountability, customer service, and operational accuracy without the chaos and micromanagement often found in larger corporate environments.

Responsibilities

• Manage international air and ocean import/export shipments from A-Z
• Coordinate bookings with carriers, airlines, steamship lines, truckers, and overseas agents
• Handle shipment documentation including HAWB, MAWB, HBL, MBL, commercial invoices, and customs paperwork
• Track and trace shipments while proactively updating clients
• Resolve operational issues including delays, customs holds, and routing changes
• Ensure accurate billing, invoicing, and file closure
• Build strong relationships with customers, overseas partners, and service providers
• Work closely with customs brokerage and warehouse teams where required

Requirements

• 3+ years of experience within international freight forwarding
• Strong operational knowledge across both air and ocean freight
• Experience handling import and export shipments
• Knowledge of CargoWise is highly preferred
• Understanding of full A-Z forwarding processes
• Strong customer service and communication skills
• Ability to work in a fast paced operational environment without needing hand holding
