Description

Summary

The Freight Coordinator position’s primary responsibility is to fulfill our mission statement, “to create the most enjoyable shopping experience possible for our Guests.” Additionally, the Freight Coordinator performs a variety of operational tasks assigned by store management, including receiving and unpacking shipments, shipping merchandise, backroom maintenance, and routine cleaning of facilities.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Sales Generation and Guest Service

  • Compare and verify merchandise invoices to received items to ensure shipment accuracy.
  • Send alterations, layaways, or special orders to Guests via FedEx.
  • Check accuracy of freight packing slips and transfer slips.
  • Ensure all transfers are processed through the register and match shipped items.
  • When shipping to Guests and other stores, fold items and select appropriately sized boxes for proper presentation.
  • Remove pins and plastic from shipped merchandise.
  • Place Sensormatic tags on garments as designated.
  • Hang, fold, and steam merchandise for the sales floor as needed.
  • Assist with floor projects when necessary.

Operations

  • Work a flexible schedule, including mornings, evenings, weekends, and specific holidays based on store needs.
  • Maintain knowledge of Point of Sale (POS) software.
  • Receive freight and store transfers through the register.
  • Handle store mail discrepancies and maintain shipment paperwork.
  • Recognize security risks and thefts, and know how to address them.
  • Create FedEx labels and sort packages by transit time.
  • Process recalls and Return to Vendors (RTVs) weekly.
  • Keep supplies organized and in stock.
  • Organize fixtures and shelving.
  • Maintain a neat, clean, and organized work area.
  • Keep daily work files in order.
  • Report policy violations confidentially to management or HR.
  • Provide feedback on merchandise handling concerns.
  • Adhere to Buckle’s Code of Ethics and policies.
  • Perform duties with high customer service standards, supporting a positive team environment.
  • Participate in special projects and other duties as assigned.

This role has no supervisory responsibilities.

Qualifications

No prior experience or training required. Must be 18 years or older due to job nature.

Physical Demands

Regularly required to stand, walk, use hands, reach, climb, balance, jump, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, and communicate verbally. Occasionally sit. Must be able to lift and maneuver 50 lbs. Vision requirements include close, distance, peripheral, color, depth perception, and focus adjustment. Work environment is a retail setting with moderate noise levels.
