CSX is seeking a Freight Conductor to safely coordinate train crews, place rail cars for loading, and makeup/breakdown trains in yards or customer facilities near Charleston, SC. The role includes a four-week paid training at the Atlanta Training Center and a potential retention bonus after the first two years.

Qualified candidates must meet minimum requirements and pass drug and background checks. Relocation is not offered; candidates must live within 50 miles or be willing to relocate.

Qualifikationen

• 18 years of age or older
• One year of related experience
• High School Diploma/GED from an accredited institution
• Ability to read and comprehend all instructions including operating rules, bulletins, regulatory documents and other written communications
• Proficient verbal and written communication skills
• Preferred: outside work experience or safety-sensitive environment experience
• Preferred: Valid Driver's License

Aufgaben

• Ensure compliance with all railroad and safety rules, FRA regulations, railroad signals, and train orders
• Be able to safely perform all job responsibilities
• Inspect all equipment on cars prior to departures
• Receive and transmit information by radio and telephone
• Read and understand bulletins, work orders, and switch lists
• Assist with coupling/uncoupling of cars, operate switches, repair railcars
• Work with customers to ensure accurate movement and placement of cars and provide customer service
• Maintain awareness of surroundings to ensure rail safety
• Operate locomotive equipment using remote control
• Understand color and hand signals and systems
• Review instructions from yardmasters and dispatchers and discuss with locomotive engineer
• Miscellaneous duties as assigned by manager
