Job summary

CSX is seeking a Freight Conductor in Mobile, AL to safely coordinate train crews, place rail cars for loading, and makeup/break down trains in yard environments.

New hires may receive retention bonuses after 1 and 2 years, with bonuses of $3000 and $2000 respectively, subject to terms. Training occurs at the Atlanta center with lodging provided and meal allowances; relocation is limited to within 50 miles of the posted location.

Qualifications

• Must be 18 years or older.
• One year of related experience.
• High School Diploma or GED.
• Ability to read and comprehend operating rules and bulletins.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate crew movements and ensure safe operations.
• Inspect equipment before departures.
• Receive and transmit information via radio/phone.
• Read bulletins and switch lists.
• Assist with coupling/uncoupling and repairs to railcars.
• Provide customer service in car movements.
• Work with yardmasters and dispatchers.
