Job summary

Ruan is seeking a Freight Audit Intern for Summer 2027. The role blends on-site work at our Des Moines campus with remote work, offering hands-on experience in freight invoicing, carrier communications, and data reporting using Excel.

You will resolve invoice inaccuracies, provide aging reports, and prepare weekly bills to Managed Transportation customers along with monthly accruals, developing skills for a career in supply chain and logistics.

Qualifications

• Some college courses preferred
• Course of study: Supply Chain, Logistics, Human Resources, IT
• Experience: none
• Must act with integrity in all we do
• Must meet behavioral expectations: safety, people, customer, performance, continuous improvement
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks concurrently

Responsibilities

• Maintain communications with carriers to ensure timely receipt of all freight bills and supporting docs
• Manage invoicing exceptions found after audits and resolve to keep aging under 60 days
• Prepare weekly customer bills and respond to ad hoc billing requests
• Interpret carrier tariffs to communicate invoice resolutions and pricing improvements
• Collaborate with EDI Support to identify EDI failures and promote electronic invoicing
• Coordinate with Operations for accessorial or rate approvals and shipment completions
• Communicate professionally with customers and carriers by email and phone
• Create and maintain weekly/monthly schedules to work independently
• Perform other related duties and special projects
