Job summary

Methodist ER Helotes is seeking a Registered Nurse to coordinate and deliver high quality, patient-centered care within a fast-paced emergency department. You will collaborate with physicians and the care team to implement individualized plans and advocate for patients and families.

The role emphasizes accurate documentation, patient education on treatments and follow-up, and prompt responsiveness to patient needs while maintaining safety and quality standards.

Qualifications

• RN must possess ACLS within 90 days of start date.
• BCLS within 30 days of start date.
• Nonviolent Crisis Intervention within 6 months.
• Trauma Nursing Core Course within 1 year.
• Current Texas RN license or Multi-State Compact; Texas license within 60 days if needed.
• RN with at least 6 months RN experience.

Job Summary and Qualifications

The Registered Nurse coordinates and delivers high quality, patient-centered care in accordance with the nature and specific requirements of the department, and consistent with the scope and standards of practice for the relevant state and specialty. In collaboration with medical providers and other members of the care team, the RN provides individualized, comprehensive, and compassionate care using established nursing models such as “Assess, Perform, Teach, and Manage.” The RN serves as an advocate for patients/families/caregivers and models a commitment to the organization’s vision/mission/values to support an unparalleled patient experience and clinical outcomes that contribute to overall departmental performance.

• Assesses patient pain regularly to promote effective pain management, including reassessments after appropriate intervention.
• Performs procedures, monitoring, or other functions as ordered by the medical provider(s). Documents the administration of care in the patient medical record in a timely and thorough manner.
• Performs exceptional care by responding promptly to patient requests. Strives to anticipate patient needs and resolve them proactively.
• Teaches patients/families/caregivers about patient medical condition, patient status, treatment plan, medications and possible side effects, and follow-up measures. Translates complex medical terminology to ensure complete understanding.
• Teaches patients/families/caregivers about any non-medicinal follow-up measures, such as healthy diet and exercise, disease prevention, and/or other lifestyle changes. Prepares patients and families/caregivers for future self-management.

What qualifications you will need:

• Advanced Cardiac Life Spt must be obtained within 90 days of employment start date
• Basic Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date
• Nonviolent Crisis Intervention must be obtained within 6 months of employment start date
• Trauma Nursing Core Course must be obtained within 1 year of employment start date
• Associate Degree, or Bachelors Degree, or Registered Nurse Diploma
• Emergency Nurse Pediatric Cour, or PALS Pediatric Adv Life Supt must be obtained within 1 year of employment start date
• Current Registered Nurse License in the State of Texas or Multi-State Compact License (Employees with RN Compact License are required to obtain Texas RN License within 60 days of hire date)
• (RN) Registered Nurse Minimum 6 months experience as a Registered Nurse

Methodist ER Helotes opened Spring 2021 to serve the Far Northwest and surrounding areas. We are a 24/7 freestanding emergency center. This 7,029 square foot facility includes 7 all-private treatment rooms and a full range of services such as radiology, a full-service laboratory and telemetry. We offer the benefit of immediate intervention for emergencies where treatment time is critical, including 24-hour monitoring and testing of patients, such as chest pain cases. Our compassionate team of medical professionals work to stabilize critical patients and transport, should they need hospitalization, to a Methodist hospital in San Antonio.
