Methodist Hospital Northeast is seeking an Emergency Room Registered Nurse PRN to join the ER team. The RN coordinates and delivers high-quality patient-centered care, collaborating with physicians and the care team to ensure outcomes align with departmental standards.

Qualifications include RN licensure, ACLS/BLS within required windows, and TNCC/PALS/ACE competencies where applicable. The role requires minimum 6 months RN experience and Texas RN licensure or compact license with 60-day

Job Summary and Qualifications

The Registered Nurse coordinates and delivers high‑quality, patient‑centered care in accordance with the nature and specific requirements of the department, and consistent with the scope and standards of practice for the relevant state and specialty. In collaboration with medical providers and other members of the care team, the RN provides individualized, comprehensive, and compassionate care using established nursing models such as “Assess, Perform, Teach, and Manage.” The RN serves as an advocate for patients, families, and caregivers and models a commitment to the organization’s vision, mission, and values to support an unparalleled patient experience and clinical outcomes that contribute to overall departmental performance.

• Assesses patient pain regularly to promote effective pain management, including reassessments after appropriate intervention.
• Performs procedures, monitoring, or other functions as ordered by the medical provider(s). Documents the administration of care in the patient medical record in a timely and thorough manner.
• Performs exceptional care by responding promptly to patient requests. Strives to anticipate patient needs and resolve them proactively.
• Teaches patients, families, and caregivers about patient medical condition, status, treatment plan, medications, and possible side effects, and translates complex medical terminology to ensure complete understanding.
• Teaches patients, families, and caregivers about any non‑medicinal follow‑up measures, such as healthy diet, exercise, disease prevention, and other lifestyle changes, and prepares patients and families for future self‑management.

Qualifications

• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) must be obtained within 90 days of employment start date.
• Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date.
• Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC) must be obtained within 1 year of employment start date.
• Registered Nurse (RN) license.
• Bachelor’s Degree, Associate Degree, or Registered Nurse Diploma.
• Emergency Nurse Pediatric Course, or PALS Pediatric Advanced Life Support, must be obtained within 90 days of employment start date.
• Graduate of an accredited diploma, associates, or baccalaureate degree registered nursing program.
• Minimum of six (6) months of clinical experience as a licensed Registered Nurse.
• Current Registered Nurse License in the State of Texas or Multi‑State Compact License (Employees with RN Compact License are required to obtain a Texas RN License within 60 days of hire date).
