Job summary

Methodist ER Legacy Trails in San Antonio, TX, is seeking an experienced Registered Nurse for its freestanding emergency center. You will coordinate and deliver high-quality, patient-centered care in collaboration with medical providers, utilizing established nursing models to support outcomes and the organization’s mission.

The role emphasizes pain assessment, timely procedures, thorough documentation, patient teaching, and proactive patient advocacy within a 24/7 ER setting.

Qualifications

• Active RN license in Texas.
• ACLS within 90 days of employment start date.
• BLS within 30 days of employment start date.
• 6 months minimum RN experience.
• Associate Degree, or Bachelor's Degree, or RN Diploma (any approved program).
• ENPC or PALS within 1 year of employment start date.

Responsibilities

• Assess patient pain regularly to promote effective pain management and reassess after interventions.
• Perform procedures, monitoring, or other functions as ordered by the provider and document care in the medical record.
• Respond promptly to patient requests and anticipate needs.
• Teach patients and families about condition, treatment plan, medications, and follow-up care.
• Educate on non-medicinal follow-up measures and prepare for self-management.

Job Summary and Qualifications

The Registered Nurse coordinates and delivers high quality, patient-centered care in accordance with the nature and specific requirements of the department, and consistent with the scope and standards of practice for the relevant state and specialty. In collaboration with medical providers and other members of the care team, the RN provides individualized, comprehensive, and compassionate care using established nursing models such as “Assess, Perform, Teach, and Manage.” The RN serves as an advocate for patients/families/caregivers and models a commitment to the organization’s vision/mission/values to support an unparalleled patient experience and clinical outcomes that contribute to overall departmental performance.

• Assesses patient pain regularly to promote effective pain management, including reassessments after appropriate intervention.
• Performs procedures, monitoring, or other functions as ordered by the medical provider(s). Documents the administration of care in the patient medical record in a timely and thorough manner.
• Performs exceptional care by responding promptly to patient requests. Strives to anticipate patient needs and resolve them proactively.
• Teaches patients/families/caregivers about patient medical condition, patient status, treatment plan, medications and possible side effects, and follow-up measures. Translates complex medical terminology to ensure complete understanding.
• Teaches patients/families/caregivers about any non-medicinal follow-up measures, such as healthy diet and exercise, disease prevention, and/or other lifestyle changes. Prepares patients and families/caregivers for future self-management.

What qualifications you will need:

  • Advanced Cardiac Life Spt must be obtained within 90 days of employment start date
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date
  • Nonviolent Crisis Intervention must be obtained within 6 months of employment start date
  • Trauma Nursing Core Course must be obtained within 1 year of employment start date
  • (RN) Registered Nurse 6 Months Minimum Licensed RN Experience required
  • Associate Degree, or Bachelors Degree, or Registered Nurse Diploma
  • Emergency Nurse Pediatric Cour, or PALS Pediatric Adv Life Supt must be obtained within 1 year of employment start date

Methodist ER Legacy Trails serves the Northwest and surrounding areas with our 24/7 freestanding emergency center. This 7,000 square foot facility includes 7 all-private treatment rooms and a full range of services such as radiology, a full-service laboratory and telemetry. We offer the benefit of immediate intervention for emergencies where treatment time is critical, including 24-hour monitoring and testing of patients, such as chest pain cases.
