Job summary

Methodist ER Nacogdoches seeks an experienced Registered Nurse to coordinate and deliver high-quality, patient-centered care in a fast-paced emergency setting.

You will collaborate with clinicians, document care accurately, and teach patients and families about conditions, treatments, and follow-up care, while meeting time-bound certification requirements and maintaining public safety and clinical standards.

Qualifications

• ACLS, BCLS, NIH Stroke Scale, TNCC, ENPC/PALS certifications required within stated timeframes.
• RN license and degree/diploma/BS required for practice.
• 6 months RN experience required.
• Emergency nursing training and pediatric life support certifications preferred.
• All listed certifications must be obtained within specified employment start dates.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate and deliver high quality, patient-centered care.
• Perform procedures, monitoring, or other tasks as ordered by the medical provider and document care.
• Respond promptly to patient requests and proactively anticipate needs.
• Educate patients, families, and caregivers about conditions, treatment plans, medications, and follow-up steps.
• Prepare patients for self-management and provide lifestyle guidance when appropriate.

Job Summary And Qualifications

The Registered Nurse coordinates and delivers high quality, patient-centered care in accordance with the nature and specific requirements of the department, and consistent with the scope and standards of practice for the relevant state and specialty. In collaboration with medical providers and other members of the care team, the RN provides individualized, comprehensive, and compassionate care using established nursing models such as "Assess, Perform, Teach, and Manage." The RN serves as an advocate for patients/families/caregivers and models a commitment to the organization’s vision/mission/values to support an unparalleled patient experience and clinical outcomes that contribute to overall departmental performance.

• Assesses patient pain regularly to promote effective pain management, including reassessments after appropriate intervention.
• Performs procedures, monitoring, or other functions as ordered by the medical provider(s). Documents the administration of care in the patient medical record in a timely and thorough manner.
• Performs exceptional care by responding promptly to patient requests. Strives to anticipate patient needs and resolve them proactively.
• Teaches patients/families/caregivers about patient medical condition, patient status, treatment plan, medications and possible side effects, and follow-up measures. Translates complex medical terminology to ensure complete understanding.
• Teaches patients/families/caregivers about any non-medicinal follow-up measures, such as healthy diet and exercise, disease prevention, and/or other lifestyle changes. Prepares patients and families/caregivers for future self-management.

What qualifications you will need

• Advanced Cardiac Life Spt must be obtained within 90 days of employment start date
• Basic Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date
• NIH Stroke Scale must be obtained within 90 days of employment start date
• Nonviolent Crisis Intervention must be obtained within 1 year of employment start date
• Trauma Nursing Core Course must be obtained within 6 months of employment start date
• (RN) Registered Nurse 6 Months Licensed RN experience
• Registered Nurse Diploma, or Associate Degree, or Bachelors Degree
• Emergency Nurse Pediatric Cour, or PALS Pediatric Adv Life Supt must be obtained within 90 days of employment start date

Methodist ER Nacogdoches serves the Northeast and surrounding area. We are a 24/7 freestanding emergency center. This 5,808 square-foot facility features 7 all-private treatment rooms and a full range of services such as radiology, a full-service laboratory and telemetry. We offer the benefit of immediate intervention for emergencies. In these cases, treatment time is critical. We provide 24-hour monitoring and testing of patients, such as chest pain cases. Our compassionate team of medical professionals work to stabilize critical patients and transport, should they need hospitalization, to a Methodist hospital in San Antonio.
