Job summary

MarquisIndustrialServices seeks a Coating Superintendent to lead coating operations on multiple industrial projects. You will plan, schedule, and supervise coating crews, ensuring safety, quality, and timely completion while aligning with project budgets and specifications.

You will collaborate with Project Managers, safety, quality teams, and clients, overseeing foremen, craft personnel, and resource allocation. A strong background in industrial coatings and NCCER certification is preferred.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• 3+ years experience in superintendent or equivalent leadership role.
• 3–5 years industrial coating, painting, or surface preparation in refinery, petrochemical, marine, or chemical plant environments.
• Strong knowledge of industrial coatings systems, surface preparation standards, and coating application methods.
• Ability to read and interpret project specifications, schedules, and drawings.
• Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
• Must wear all required PPE on project sites.
• Ability to pass drug screening and background checks.
• Valid TWIC Card.
• Willingness to work overtime, weekends, and travel as project needs require.
• Complete customer-required safety training.
• NCCER Certification.

Responsibilities

• Promote safety culture and enforce all safety policies and procedures.
• Plan, coordinate, and oversee coating activities to meet schedule and budget.
• Supervise foremen and craft personnel with staffing and utilization.
• Monitor progress, productivity, labor costs, and material usage.
• Ensure surface prep, coating application, and inspections meet specs and standards.
• Coordinate daily activities with PMs, safety, QA, subcontractors, and client reps.

EssentialFunctions

• SuperviseandprovideleadershiptoForemenandcraftpersonnel,ensuringproperstaffinglevelsandworkforceutilization.
• Monitorprojectprogress,productivity,laborcosts,andmaterialusagetosupportoperationalgoalsandclientexpectations.
• Ensureallsurfacepreparation,coatingapplication,andinspectionactivitiescomplywithprojectspecifications,manufacturerrecommendations,andqualitystandards.
• CoordinatedailyworkactivitieswithProjectManagers,Safetypersonnel,Qualitypersonnel,subcontractors,andclientrepresentatives.
• Performroutineinspectionsofworkinprogressandcompletedworktoverifycompliancewithapplicablestandardsandspecifications.
• Assistinemployeedevelopmentthroughtraining,coaching,mentoring,andperformancemanagement.
• Reviewandmaintainprojectdocumentation,includinglaborreports,productiontracking,qualityrecords,andsafetydocumentation.
• Assistwithmanpowerplanning,scheduling,andresourceallocationforcurrentandupcomingprojects.
• Investigateandresolvefieldissuesrelatedtosafety,quality,productivity,scheduling,andcustomerconcerns.
• RepresentMarquisIndustrialServicesprofessionallywhilemaintainingpositiverelationshipswithclientsandprojectstakeholders.
• Performallotherdutiesasassignedbymanagement.
• Inspectsjobsiteforsafetyhazards.
• Participateinsafetypre-jobaudits(JSA’s)withthepaintingcrewtoensureallsafetyhazardshavebeenidentified.

• DirectlysupervisesForemenandcoatingcraftpersonnelassignedtoprojects.
• Responsibleformanpowerplanning,crewassignments,productivitymanagement,andemployeeperformanceoversight.
• Providesleadership,coaching,training,andsupporttofieldpersonnel.
