Responsibilities

• Adhere to OSHA, site requirements and MarquisConstructionServices rules.
• Inspect job site for safety hazards and participate in JSA with painting crew.
• Prepare and paint surfaces including metals and concrete per specs.
• Prepare, match colors and mix primers, paints, and additives for proper viscosity.
• Apply coatings and ensure coverage with minimal runs and thin spots.
• Cleanup work area and maintain equipment.

Summary/Objective

ACoatingCraftsmanisresponsibleforperformingblastingandcoatingdutiesasrequiredperthejobspecifications.

EssentialFunctions

• AdherestoallOSHA,sitespecificandMarquisConstructionServicesrequirementsfortheblastingandpainting.
• Abidebyallenvironmental(EPA)standards.
• Inspectsjobsiteforsafetyhazards.
• Participateinsafetypre-jobaudits(JSA’s)withthepaintingcrewtoensureallsafetyhazardshavebeenidentified.
• Conductdailyvisualinspectionsofscaffoldingtoensurestructuralstability.
• Prepareandpaintavarietyofsurfacesincludingferrousandnon-ferrousmetals,aluminumandconcretetoMarquisandcustomersspecifications.
• Workfromnon-complexblueprints,specifications,worksheets,dimension,colorcodes,mixingcharts,tables,verbalandwritteninstruction/information.
• Prepare,matchcolorsandmixstandardsandotherprimers,paintsandcostingstoproperconsistencyandviscosity,usingthinnerssolvents,additives,anaagitatorsasrequired.Selectpressures,nozzles,andcuretimes.
• Prepareandcleanitemsandsurfacestobefinished.Mask,plug,blockfinished,machinedorspecifiedsurfacesnottobecoated.
• Uniformlyapplywetpriers,paints,andwetordrycoatingstopartsandcomponentsandotheritemsusingcaretoavoidoverspraying/coatingandtoobtainasmooth,coveredandevensurfacefreefromrunsandthinspots.Repeatoperationsasnecessarytoobtaindesiredeffectorthicknessofmedia.
• Visuallyandmechanicallycheckfinisheditemsforpinholes,runs,barespots,propercoverage.Refinishandtouchupasrequired.
• Prepareandcoatsamplepieces.
• Ensurethepropermovementoffinishedgoodstoinspectionorshippingarea,cleaningandmaintenanceofsprayapplicationequipment,booths,filters,protectiveclothingandequipmentaccordingtoestablishedpractices.Ensureneededpaintingandcoatingsuppliesareonhand.
• Periodicallycheckwith
• Communicateeffectivelywithcrewmembersandsupervision.
• Cleanupworkarea,supplies,materialsandequipment.
• Attendanceisanessentialfunctionofthisjob.
• Anyotherdutiesasassignedbysupervision.
