Job summary

WorkGenius Group is looking for a Freelance Technical Designer/Engineer in New York City to support an ongoing, part-time onsite engagement in the luxury ready-to-wear sector. You will translate creative direction into viable construction solutions, lead fittings, and ensure samples meet intent throughout development.

The role requires 7+ years of technical design experience, fluency with PLM systems, and deep knowledge of woven tailoring, garment construction, and manufacturing quality.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of technical design experience in contemporary or luxury ready-to-wear apparel.
• Fluency with PLM systems and technical documentation workflows.
• Essential experience with woven tailoring.
• Ability to work part-time and attend onsite fittings in New York City as needed.
• Strong expertise in garment construction, fit, manufacturing, quality, and durability.

• Lead fittings and translate creative direction into viable construction solutions with patternmakers.
• Carry specs through PP and TOP sample approvals, ensuring samples are sewn to intent.
• Conduct wear testing and resolve construction, quality, and durability issues during development.
• Serve as technical liaison for domestic and overseas factories, enforcing construction and quality standards.

• Lead fittings and translate creative direction into viable construction solutions in collaboration with patternmakers.
• Carry specifications through PP and TOP sample approvals, ensuring samples are sewn to intent.
• Conduct product wear testing and resolve construction, quality, and durability issues throughout development.
• Serve as the technical liaison for domestic and overseas factories, establishing and enforcing construction and quality standards.
