Job summary

Davis Wright Tremaine LLP is seeking a Freelance Business Intake Researcher to support risk assessment and client intake across multiple offices. The role is temporary (six months) with the option to work fully remotely within commuting distance of any office.

You will gather financial, regulatory, and litigation data from external sources, analyze risk, and assist intake attorneys and partners in evaluating new engagements and matters. Strong research and communication skills are essential.

Qualifications

• 5+ years’ experience compiling and analyzing risk assessment reports.
• Prior experience with corporate risk assessment research and analysis and/or investigative due diligence, including ability to analyze, cross-reference and summarize findings from third-party databases and public records such as Dun & Bradstreet, Lexis, TLO, Bloomberg, etc.
• Bachelor's Degree; advanced legal or business degree or KYC/AML compliance certification preferred
• Understanding of KYC/AML requirements; ability to read financial statements; knowledge of and ability to analyze SEC filings; familiarity with current trends in the legal and financial services industries.
• Strong communication skills, verbal and written.
• Strong attention to detail, analysis, proofreading and organizational skills.
• Strong interpersonal skills, team player able to work in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong customer service skills, including understanding and responding quickly to a variety of inquiries.
• Ability to contribute ideas for process improvements.
• Ability to work under pressure and meet project deadlines with expedited turnaround times.
• Experience with Microsoft Office; familiarity with Intapp and data intake processing software.

Responsibilities

• Gather and analyze financial information, regulatory and litigation histories from external databases for risk management.
• Collaborate with intake attorneys and partners to evaluate risk when onboarding new clients and matters.
• Assess financial viability of potential matters through external research and analysis.
• Run special searches to identify risk issues related to lateral hires, mergers, or special circumstances.
• Participate in projects on new business intake best practices and risk management in Information Governance.
• Assist Conflicts team in evaluating conflicts under professional conduct rules.
• Support with Litigation Holds, Subpoenas, and Protective Orders; assist with OCG intake.
• Assist with other research and administrative tasks and cross-departmental work.
