Job summary

RWS is seeking contributors for a Lao speech data collection project that works remotely. This freelance role involves recording spontaneous speech in real-life contexts and annotating the data to support evaluation and development of AI technologies.

Start date is immediate with flexible, task-based hours (2–4 hours daily). Applicants should have native Lao fluency and strong English comprehension, with attention to detail and ability to follow detailed project instructions.

Qualifications

• Native-level fluency in Lao (Laos).
• Advanced level of English to understand written instructions.
• Contributors must not imitate dialects or accents that are not their own.
• Experience with speech recording or data annotation projects is an advantage, but not required.

Responsibilities

• Record natural, spontaneous speech according to project guidelines.
• Capture speech from real-life situations such as workplace conversations or casual one-on-one discussions.
• Complete conversational speech tasks, or participate in voice or voice-text interactions with AI systems.
• Annotate collected speech data according to provided instructions.
• Provide metadata related to each recording.
