Job summary

Moniepoint is seeking a Data Analyst (Fraud) to join our analytics team and drive detection and mitigation of fraud through data-driven insights. You will write complex SQL queries, build dashboards, and partner with fraud operations, data scientists, engineers, and product managers to turn analytics into action.

The role emphasizes proactive pattern identification, risk assessment, and communicating findings to senior leadership in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as a Data Analyst (Fraud), or similar role (4+ years).
• Strong problem solving skills.
• Advanced proficiency with SQL; able to write complex queries across large datasets.
• Experience in fraud, risk, or financial services; understand fraud attacks and mitigation trade-offs.
• Proactive mindset — you don't wait to be asked; you spot something unusual and you dig in.
• Exposure to Python or scripting for data manipulation and analysis.
• Proficiency with a BI tool (PowerBI, Looker, Tableau, Superset, Redash, or equivalent).
• Strong stakeholder management; communicate findings clearly to fraud ops, product, engineers, and leadership.
• Comfort in fast-paced, cross-functional teams with shifting priorities.
• Proficiency with spreadsheet tools (Excel or Google Sheets).
• Autonomy and a flat structure; contribute meaningfully in a large user base.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Drive to learn and master new technologies and techniques.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Engineering, or related field.

Responsibilities

• Investigate fraud attacks, quantify their impact, and present findings to drive prioritisation and response.
• Propose and refine rule-based mitigations with fraud operations and engineering.
• Build and maintain reporting and dashboards to monitor fraud trends, rule performance, and key metrics.
• Collaborate with fraud operations, data scientists, engineers, and product managers to translate insights into action.
• Proactively identify emerging patterns and flag risks before they escalate.
