Job summary

Envista is seeking a fraud analyst to investigate fraud and suspicious activity in member accounts and transactions. You will identify, trace and mitigate high-risk activity, educate members, and support loss prevention.

You will collaborate with branches, respond to law enforcement inquiries, assist AML reporting with the BSA Officer, and help implement safeguards. One to three years of related experience is expected.

Qualifications

  • One year to three years of similar or related experience.
  • Two-year degree or equivalent certification, or vendor training.
  • Familiarity with banking industry and law enforcement networks.

Responsibilities

  • Review system generated reports and alerts for suspicious activity and conducts member account research, review and monitoring.
  • Initiate contact with members to verify account activity and provide support to credit union stakeholders.
  • Respond to law enforcement inquiries and liaise with agencies; assist subpoenas and investigations.
  • Identify and escalate fraud cases to stakeholders as needed.
  • Assist the BSA Officer with AML and fraud reporting.
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned.

Job description

What this role looks like:

The fraud analyst is responsible for investigating fraud and suspicious activity within members’ accounts and transactions on behalf of the credit union. They will identify, trace and track any suspicious or high-risk transactions, determine if there is improper activity involved, report as necessary and determine if there is any risk to the credit union or its members. They will be working with members directly to help them determine fraud, secure member's accounts, and educate them on ways to protect themselves. Assist with fraud and risk management practices, provide suggestions on safeguards and loss mitigation. Successful candidates must make a professional appearance, be enthusiastic, dependable and service-minded. The day-to-day:
  • Review system generated reports and alerts for suspicious activity and conducts member account research, review and monitoring. Create case management of all member fraud cases, taking prompt and proper action when necessary to report and mitigate fraud and losses.
  • Initiate contact with members to verify account activity and provide support to credit union stakeholders by working with branches and departments. Help provide education to employees and members on fraud prevention. Provide credit union stakeholders with emerging fraud trends and recommendations to management to assist in loss mitigation.
  • Respond to law enforcement agency inquiries regarding fraudulent or criminal matters. Act as a liaison with law enforcement (federal, state and local) and social service agencies by providing information and pursuing prosecution/restitution as appropriate. Prepare and respond to incoming subpoenas and search warrants from law enforcement agencies regarding fraud cases.
  • Identify and escalation fraud cases to credit union stakeholders as needed.
  • Assist the BSA Officer with AML and fraud reporting.

Knowledge & Skills:
  • Demonstrated expertise in building relationships within the banking industry and law enforcement communities and industry contacts for the purpose of intelligence gathering and other fraud prevention related activities.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects, prioritize deadlines, and collaborate across teams.
  • Familiarity with financial services or regulated industries preferred but not required.
Education & Experience:
  • One year to three years of similar or related experience.
  • (1) A two-year college degree, or (2) completion of a specialized certification or licensing, or (3) completion of specialized training courses conducted by vendors, or (4) job-specific skills acquired through an apprenticeship program.
