Job summary

Akerman LLP seeks an associate with 3 to 5 years of transactional franchise experience to join its expanding national franchise practice. The ideal candidate will handle FDDs, franchise agreements, registrations, and termination issues, with exposure to regulatory and compliance matters and related disputes.

Remote/flexible work arrangements are available across the firm's offices. Qualified candidates must have a Juris Doctor from an ABA-accredited law school and bar admission (or eligibility)

Qualifications

• 3–5 years of transactional franchise experience.
• Juris Doctor degree from an ABA-accredited law school.
• Bar admission (or eligibility) in the jurisdiction of the resident office location.
• Experience with FDDs, franchise agreements, registrations, and termination issues.
• Experience with international franchise licensing transactions and dispute resolution is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Draft and negotiate franchise agreements and FDDs.
• Provide regulatory and compliance guidance on franchise matters.
• Support franchise-related mergers and acquisitions and cross-border licensing.
• Advise on registrations, terminations, and dispute resolution as needed.
