Job summary

NV5 is seeking an Engineer - Fracture Mechanics SME to provide on-site support for field inspections and assessments related to gas turbine infrastructure and pipeline integrity. You will coordinate repair activities, review quality plans, and mentor peers while engaging with operators, PRCI members, and integrity teams across projects.

Requirements include 9–15 years in a related field, a Bachelor's in Engineering (Masters/PhD preferred), and strong proficiency in PHMSA regulations, ILI

Qualifications

• 9–15 years of experience in design, materials, mechanical, or structural engineering.
•  
• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering; Masters or PhD preferred.
• 10+ years in pipeline or pressure-equipment integrity with fracture mechanics expertise.
• Knowledge of PHMSA Mega Rule, MAOP reconfirmation, ECA preferred.
• Proficiency with FEA and fracture/fatigue tools (Abaqus, ANSYS).
• Strong written and verbal communication; client-focused.

Responsibilities

• Grow fracture mechanics revenue through oil and gas clients.
• Own client relationships including scoping, proposals, and follow-on work.
• Lead fitness-for-service assessments of cracks, dents, and corrosion.
• Assess crack-like features (SCC, seam/girth weld) and fatigue cracks.
• Deliver client deliverables and present findings to operators and regulators.
• Develop project scopes, cost estimates, and data observations.
• Draft reports with Technical Experts to finalize client deliverables.
• Provide exceptional professional customer service with stakeholders.
