Job summary

Work for America seeks a fractional product leader to guide Civic Match from MVP to a scalable platform. You will diagnose health, define a prioritized roadmap, and design a lean cross‑functional team with our Product Manager, Data Coordinator, and CRM lead.

You bring AI-native development, marketplace experience, and a track record leading product at growth-stage nonprofits or companies. You’ll hire external partners and align executives on tradeoffs.

Qualifications

• Several years leading product at a growth-stage company or nonprofit, ideally including a platform you helped build.
• Fluency with AI-native building and development; manage people and AI agents; ship AI features responsibly.
• Bias toward short cycle times; form a hypothesis, test with users, and adjust quickly.
• Enough technical depth to question estimates and structure a lean engineering team.
• Experience with two-sided marketplaces and monetization/freemium models.
• Experience hiring and managing external engineering partners and guiding them to a high bar.
• Strong written and verbal communication; explain tradeoffs to varied audiences.
• Public service or government-facing experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose platform health and readiness; deliver a prioritized 60-day plan with fixes.
• Define build model and team proposal for Civic Match; plan the transition from current partners.
• Set up sprint cadence, planning, and review rituals; maintain clear communication with leadership.
• Identify what to build first, order priorities, and establish KPIs for the next 6–12 months.
• Lead transition work with external partners and, if needed, select a new engineering partner.
• Provide weekly written updates to executives on progress, risks, and decisions.
