Job summary

17A seeks an experienced, technically fluent Technical Product Manager to own client-focused products from problem statement to end-user tool. This role blends product mgmt, applied AI, and public-sector delivery in a services model with client outcomes as success metrics.

You’ll work with agencies, nonprofits, and coalitions, shaping what’s worth building, ensuring trust, and driving adoption across real-world workflows in the public sector.

Qualifications

• 5–7 years of experience in product management, product ownership, or related roles.
• Ability to read API specs and understand data pipelines.
• Experience with public sector, civic tech, or applied-AI-for-impact work is a plus.
• Comfortable in a services model focused on client outcomes.

Responsibilities

• Define the product with clients before a formal spec in a discovery-led process.
• Own the backlog: write user stories, accept criteria, prioritize, plan, and review.
• Collaborate daily with AI leads, engineers, and data staff; review tech approaches.
• Prototype to learn and validate with end users; ensure smooth release and onboarding.
• Know when to build, buy, or integrate and defend choices to the client.
• Measure adoption, outcomes, and provide clear progress with stakeholders.
