Description du poste

We're seeking an experienced Business Development Representative to help build and scale the business development function for a growing fintech compliance and advisory organization.

The organization works across the fintech ecosystem, supporting fintechs, crypto and digital asset companies, AI-enabled financial platforms, sponsor banks, credit unions, RegTech companies, and law firms with complex risk, compliance, and governance needs. Services span compliance leadership, strategic advisory, licensing, expert and litigation support, and institutional AI governance.

This is a hands-on, part-time role for someone who brings an established industry network, understands consultative business development, and has experience building outbound sales systems from the ground up. You'll work closely with senior leadership to establish a repeatable outbound motion, develop a qualified pipeline, and create a scalable approach to generating new business.

You'll own prospecting, initial sales conversations, qualification, and follow-up while independently advancing and closing approved productized offerings. Larger or more complex advisory opportunities will be brought to senior leadership as they progress through the sales cycle.

The ideal candidate can operate independently, identify where opportunities exist in the market, and turn relationships and targeted outreach into credible business conversations and revenue.

Key Responsibilities
Outbound Sales & Infrastructure
  • Build a practical, repeatable outbound sales system from the ground up
  • Establish prospecting workflows, CRM processes, outreach cadences, follow-up systems, and pipeline tracking
  • Develop a targeted prospecting strategy that combines existing industry relationships with new outbound opportunities
  • Build and maintain structured processes for identifying, engaging, and qualifying prospective clients
  • Track outbound activity, response rates, qualified opportunities, conversions, and other key performance indicators
  • Continuously refine the outbound approach based on performance data and market feedback
  • Leverage existing industry relationships and targeted outbound prospecting to generate qualified opportunities
  • Build pipeline across fintech, banking, crypto, compliance, and adjacent financial services markets
  • Identify timely business development opportunities based on regulatory developments, market signals, licensing needs, examinations, enforcement activity, and emerging technology trends
  • Research target organizations and determine the appropriate decision-makers and influencers
  • Prioritize accounts based on potential need, timing, fit, and likelihood of conversion
  • Develop thoughtful, relevant outreach strategies tailored to individual prospects and market conditions
Sales & Business Development
  • Independently lead initial sales conversations and discovery
  • Understand prospective client needs and determine alignment with available services
  • Communicate the value of the company's compliance advisory and AI governance offerings to senior decision-makers
  • Identify who owns the business need, influences the purchasing decision, and has authority to approve an engagement
  • Quote and close approved productized service offerings within established pricing guidelines
  • Maintain consistent follow-up and advance qualified opportunities through the sales process
  • Transition larger advisory and fractional engagements to the founder for deeper consultation and proposal development
  • Monitor developments across fintech, banking, digital assets, compliance, and AI governance to identify emerging sales opportunities
  • Capture recurring prospect questions, objections, needs, and market feedback
  • Share insights with the founder to strengthen positioning, messaging, and service offerings
  • Help develop a scalable business development function that can support continued company growth
Required Experience
  • 2+ years of experience in B2B sales or business development, preferably within fintech, financial services, compliance, or a related industry
  • Established professional network within fintech, banking, compliance, or adjacent financial services that can support business development and client introductions
  • Experience building outbound sales systems from scratch, including CRM workflows, prospecting, outreach, follow-up, and pipeline management
  • Demonstrated ability to independently source, qualify, advance, and close business
  • Conversational fluency in fintech, including areas such as payments, crypto, card services, and stablecoins
  • Working understanding of AI governance within regulated financial services, including the distinction between using AI and governing its use
  • Ability to identify timely market opportunities, prioritize target accounts, and articulate the reasoning behind an outreach strategy
  • Ability to develop and execute an outbound sales approach independently rather than relying on an established playbook
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to build credibility with senior financial services decision-makers
  • Ability to effectively prioritize and manage sales activity within a limited weekly time commitment
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience selling professional services, consulting, compliance advisory, or other productized B2B offerings
  • Established relationships with sponsor banks, fintech founders, general counsel, compliance officers, or other relevant decision-makers
  • Familiarity with digital assets, stablecoin infrastructure, regulatory compliance, or institutional AI governance
  • Experience building a sales function for an early-stage company or founder-led business
  • Understanding of how regulatory changes, examinations, licensing requirements, and enforcement actions can create demand for compliance services
  • Experience selling emerging or innovative solutions where prospective clients may not already have a dedicated budget
  • Experience working in entrepreneurial, startup, or high-growth environments
  • Builder: You know how to create an outbound sales system from the ground up and can establish a functional process without relying on an existing playbook.
  • Well-Connected: You have meaningful relationships within the financial services ecosystem and understand how to turn relationships into credible business opportunities.
  • Commercially Curious: You follow market and regulatory developments, recognize where demand may be emerging, and bring your own perspective on which organizations to target and why.
  • Consultative: You focus on understanding the client's business problem and establishing credibility rather than simply pitching services.
  • Independent: You can hold credible conversations with senior financial services decision-makers, qualify opportunities, and advance deals without requiring the founder on every call.
  • Pragmatic: You understand how to prioritize the highest-value activities within a limited weekly commitment and recognize that consultative sales cycles may take two to three months or longer.
  • Credible: You're direct about what you know and what you don't. You ask informed questions, recognize when deeper subject matter expertise is needed, and prioritize trust over over-claiming.
  • Results-Oriented: You understand that activity matters, but ultimately focus on creating qualified pipeline and converting opportunities into revenue.
What Success Looks Like
  • A functional, repeatable outbound sales infrastructure is established
  • Target accounts and decision-makers are clearly identified and prioritized
  • A focused pipeline of qualified opportunities is consistently developed
  • Existing industry relationships are thoughtfully converted into relevant business conversations
  • Outbound activity produces measurable engagement and qualified opportunities
  • Productized service offerings are independently advanced and closed
  • Larger advisory opportunities are properly qualified before transitioning to the founder
  • Market feedback and sales insights continuously improve positioning and outreach
  • The company develops a repeatable business development motion that reduces reliance on founder-led sales
Engagement
  • Approximately 5 hours per week
  • Remote, United States
  • Opportunity for expanded scope based on performance and business needs
Compensation
  • Base Compensation: $600-$700/month
  • Commission: 8%-15%+ on closed deals
  • Commission percentage is tiered based on deal size
  • Opportunity for increased earnings as pipeline and closed revenue grow
