Job summary

Precision Castparts Corp. in Mentor, OH is seeking a Finishing/Quality technician focused on Federal Product Inspection (FPI) Level I processes. The role involves preparing parts for inspection using fluorescence penetrant materials, following SOPs and safety guidelines.

The ideal candidate may hold a High School diploma or equivalent, with basic computer skills and a reliability track record. Experience with NAS-410 training is a plus, and the position requires independent and team problem

Responsibilities

  • Handle hazardous waste per MSDS and policy.
  • Prepare, clean, apply fluorescent penetrate solution, wash, dry and process parts through the FPI line.
  • Ensure equipment and fluids follow SOPs and engineering procedures.
  • Maintain and record daily work and time distribution by codes.
  • Keep work area safe, clean and compliant with safety rules.
  • Ensure product processing aligns with method sheets and SOPs.

Job description

Reporting Relationship: Reports directly to Finishing Area Manager


Education: A high school diploma or equivalent is preferred and may be substituted by experience. Must possess basic computer skills.


Personal Characteristics: Able to meet deadlines and be accountable for quality/ quantity. Able to work flexible hours with a history of dependability as demonstrated with strong attendance record. Comfortable using a team approach to problem solving. Have strong sense of urgency. Individual must be a motivated self-starter with the ability to work independently. Maintain a positive work atmosphere by behaving and communicating in a manner that gets along with customers, clients, co-workers and supervisors.


Work Experience: Previous FPI Level I certification (preferred) through an organized training course per NAS-410.


Principal Area of Responsibility: The FPI, Level I will perform the necessary operations and control checks that require investment casting to be processed using equipment and fluorescence penetrant materials in order to prepare the parts for inspection personnel.


Specific Duties:



  • Incumbent must handle hazardous waste in accordance with the Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS) and company policy.

  • Prepares solutions, cleans parts, applies fluorescent penetrate solution, washes parts, develops them, dries and otherwise processes parts through the FPI line. Complies with standard procedures for checks on equipment and fluids

  • Degreases parts as required.

  • Meet the specific requirements of the efficiency standard as established by Engineering.

  • Interprets accurately and follows Standard Operating Procedures and Engineering Procedures.

  • Records on a daily basis all work performed and correct distribution of work time identifying same by operational codes.

  • Maintain all required process records.

  • Keeps work area clean, orderly and in safe condition, following all safety rules.

  • Maintain positive work atmosphere by behaving and communicating in a manner that gets along with customers, clients, co-workers and supervisors.

  • Assure product is properly processed to the applicable method sheets. Perform additional duties assigned by Department Supervisor and/or the Level III.


Physical and Mental Demands:


Incumbent must physically and mentally perform the job demands as listed below.


The ability to handle high stress associated with high activity with tight deadlines.


Pass visual acuity test with corrected or uncorrected vision. Pass the color perception test showing capability to distinguish and differentiate between colors used in the process involved


Willing to devote personal time toward the study of all data required to pass the Level I certification.
